Yankees’ Rodriguez banned for 2014 season

(Reuters) – New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez will be suspended for the entire 2014 season and post season over a doping case that rocked Major League Baseball, under a ruling on Saturday by an arbitrator.

Arbitrator Frederic Horowitz notified both Major League Baseball and the Players Association of his ruling that Rodriguez “will be suspended for a period that includes 162 regular season games in the 2014 regular season as well as the entire 2014 post season,” the league said in a statement.

That suspension was reduced from an original 211 games. Rodriguez had appealed the suspension.
